Hello The Krah, What kind of name is that? Can you explain? Where are you from?
Hello faceless interviewer, I am a vagabond from Athens Greece, and my name is not The Krah. The Krah is who I am! The Krah is in the streets, in your home, in every annoying little thing. I live, eat, and breath The Krah. Krah is to shout out aggressively, to fester and corrupt the powers that be. I also find it rolls sweetly off the tongue, don’t you?
How do you define yourself? A street, Graffiti, Urban artist?
The Krah: a decrepit yet talented young man who has wasted most of his youth scribbling on everything using any medium he could get his hands on. Not for fame mind you, but because of some psychotic compulsion to annoy as many of his friends as possible. He is a jack of all trades and you cant put him into any of the above boxes (mostly because his head is so large).
How long have you been doing what you do? Is this a full time job?
What can I say faceless interviewer, I am living the bohemian dream. I cant even remember a time before The Krah, but that might be due to substance abuse…… The Krah is allergic to 9-5 jobs and this explains his particularly good relationship with poverty. However as all true artists know “Poverty is the kindling of hunger, and when there’s nothing to eat at home you spend a lot of your time in the streets scribbling your name all over everything to forget the stomach pain…..” or something along those lines, I think.
Have you seen any UFO lately? Been abducted? What’s the story behind E.T? (just because it reminds me “a tiny bit” about it)
No, no, no my little interviewer buddy. Its all down to the voices really. They used to whisper to me that I needed a girlfriend so I started drawing her again and again and again until through the marvels of metagraphicoparticulation (and a lot of beer and flirting) I found her……check. Then they decided that I needed an alien sidekick to massage my feet while im on the PC (I spend a lot of time in front of the PC) and I’ve been drawing him ever since…………………
Ever been caught painting on the street? Does it give you a buzz knowing that it might happen?
First of all, touch some wood damn you! I haven’t been caught so much as “befriended” by local authorities who have felt on several occasions that its their duty to take all my pretty paints away from me and attempt to brain wash me into believing that I am some kind of mindless vandal. I take serious offence to such behavior as I believe I am a simple man trying to make my way through life by wasting as much time painting on other peoples property as possible. Is that such a bad thing?
How many cans of paint do you use per week? Recommend a good shop in London?
Aerosol abuse and emulsion binges vary depending on what projects I might happen to have at any given time. Sickboy has a nice shop.
Apart from the street where can we see your work?
My sketch book, paintings on strange materials, edited in films, lots of publications and on the internet. I also have some prints available from: http://www.littleartbook.com/
Any plans in 2008?
I am experimenting with alternative ways of doing street-art I have already started making sculptures that I put in the streets. I will be attacking the streets of London from the air, ground and water. Wait and see.
I also will be on tour so I will be attacking New York and Barcelona soon.
